Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

MLD was developed in 1932 by Estrid and Emil Vodder, PhD as a holistic treatment for various conditions such as hematomas, eczema, varicose veins, cosmetic and preventative purposes and illnesses such as head colds or hay fever.

These manual techniques can improve lymphatic flow and restore the health of stagnant tissues.

What are these techniques actually doing?

The science of it all:

  • The MLD techniques involve the stretching of initial lymphatics (just under the surface of the skin) to allow interstitial fluid that carries your bodies bacterias, to enter into the lymphatic vessel.

  • MLD directs this fluid towards regional lymph node beds where the nodes process all of the bacteria so that it can be transported into the cardiovascular circulation.

  • Function: your lymphatic system helps to maintain fluid balance in the body, absorbs nutritional fatty acids and plays an important role in your body’s immunological functions.

  • Your amazing body transports 4+Liters of lymphatic fluid per day!!!
